Flesh and Flowers
Laura Alcalà x TanzKollektivBremen
This project comes from the curiosity to get to know other artistic processes and the personal desire to become a host and curator of a team at the disposal of an idea. It is the first production of the series TKB invites/TKB lädt ein.
TanzKollektivBremen is drawn to Paula Modersohn Becker, more specifically to her self-portraits. For this encounter with the works of the Worpswede artist, the TKB invites reinforcements: Laura Alcalà Freudenthal from Barcelona choreographs, inspired by the life and work of Paula Modersohn Becker, for the dancers Magali Sander Fett and Neus Ledesma Vidal.
"I am myself, and I hope to become more and more so," wrote Paula Modersohn Becker in a letter to Rainer Maria Rilke in 1906. She trusted in her art and constantly re-examined herself through it.
Alcalà Freudenthal turns the stage into a canvas, which the dancers shape with their movements. Thus, new perspectives on (their own) creation continuously emerge. Two bodies, endless shaking, flowers, and skin. Everything is always new. Isn’t it true that we only become something through movement?
