rebonico is both an exercise in physical memory and an homage to Ball Pla, a folk dance from a region in northern Valencia, Spain.
Through interviews with practitioners and an intimate dive into the dance, the piece abstracts this ongoing tradition and its rituals, questioning why it remains so celebrated today.
Drawing from the personal experience of dancing Ball Pla in Sant Mateu, rebonico explores its social, political, and historical evolution. It activates body memory through rhythm and invites a collective experience with the audience.
